IPMX IIM Lucknow offers International Programme in Management for Executives or IPMX (One-year MBA) at its NOIDA Campus. This is a one-year residential programme designed for mid/ senior level professionals to prepare them for top positions in industry roles. The programme was started in the year 2008 and is accredited by AACSB and Association of MBAs (AMBA). A valid GMAT/GRE score is a prerequisite for applying to this programme.



IPMX provides the students with all aspects of business education in Indian as well as the international business environment. It accelerates understanding of business at functional and strategic levels and prepares students to manage enterprises engaged in global business. The curriculum focuses on a strategic understanding of business and is rooted in practical skill development through projects and industry interface.

IPMX is a rigorous program which provides ample opportunity for personal development and professional growth through an interactive learning environment. NOIDA being the hub of commercial and industrial activity, the locational advantage also plays an important role in the learning process. Industry-related assignments and real management contexts form an integral part of the course curriculum.

Objectives of the Programme:

Note: IIML is working with other IIMs to engage with and to address the concerns of the MHRD related to the program. The final status of the program (Degree / Diploma) would depend upon the outcome of the said engagement.

Prof. Chandan Sharma In an increasingly volatile business environment, we require agile and able leaders, more than ever before. Our flagship program at IIM Lucknow - IPMX (The International Programme in Management for Executives) has consistently delivered on this front, since its inception in the year 2008. The programme is known for its academic rigor.

It is a proud moment for us to present the current and 13th batch of IPMX, which is an eclectic mix of experienced professionals from leading companies across industries such as Air Force, automotive, IT/ITES, BFSI, healthcare, energy, etc.; and functions such as consulting, manufacturing, marketing, sales, etc.

It is worth noting that owing to the demand for seasoned management professionals, the IPMX cohort has more than doubled in size compared to previous years. Peer learning this year is taking place amongst 101 experienced management professionals.

We look forward to building on the immense goodwill of IIM Lucknow and carrying forward the legacy of providing the highest quality management education and fresh perspectives to our students, as they prepare to address the business challenges, which await them.

IPMX consists of 23.5 credits courses, which includes core courses of 14.5 credits, courses during the overseas module of 2 credits, and elective courses of 7 credits. One credit course consists of 30 hours of classroom contact hours. The program includes non-credit workshops of 40 hours. Thus, the total number of classroom contact hours is 745. The 12th IPMX batch consists of 101 students coming from diverse backgrounds. With an average work experience of 8.3 years and an average international experience of 2 years, the batch brings in a lot to the table that helps in the peer-learning process.

The world is ever-shrinking with continuously blurring lines between economies and countries. Global industry outlook requires managers with finely tuned skills and professional capability to excel in the new geo-economic world market. To facilitate the students with this need, IPMX has an overseas module, called as international immersion. Every year, IPMX students travel to partner universities across the globe where they get to interact with professors, students, and industry experts at a global level. The 12th batch of IPMX visited IESEG School of Management in Paris, France for its international immersion. They took courses on Emerging Technologies in Business, Big Data, Business Strategy and Tech Tools, amongst others during this overseas module. Students had some business visits to other European cities such as Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, and Luxembourg. IESEG School of Management is a post-bac business school in France, established in 1964 in Lille. It ranks 32nd in the Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking and 6th in the best Masters in Management in French Business Schools ranking. The students leveraged IESEG’s European identity to add critical insights to the business dimensions of international firms, cross-border mergers, and global workforce management, thereby empowering themselves with the tools needed to explore innovating means to collaborate and grow in a multi-cultural and multinational environment.

After the inception of IPMX in 2008, twelve batches are graduated. IPMX alumni today are serving with distinction in senior business positions across the globe and playing the influential roles in their organizations.

After serving in the Indian Air Force for over 20 years, I decided to transition to the Corporate world. An MBA was extremely essential to help smoothen the transition and provide me with the much-needed arsenal. IIM Lucknow’s 1 Year MBA (IPMX) was an ideal programme at this juncture thanks to the 1 Year format, a campus in NCR ensuring a great connect with the industry, an international immersion in a renowned Business School abroad and most importantly education imparted by some of the finest professors in the Country. The 1 Year at IIM Lucknow was an experience par excellence. Not only was the in-class learning of extremely high standards, but the out of class interaction with an amazing cohort of over 100 professionals from extremely diverse backgrounds provided extremely valuable insights. While my years in the IAF and the learnings therein play an important role even today in my Corporate Career, I must admit that brand IIM Lucknow and brand IPMX are something that have provided me an edge which I am sure is going to continue to benefit me in the years to come.

In this journey, I was lucky enough to have interacted and gained access to a world class faculty and a very knowledgeable network of Batchmates & Alumni. The program gave me a relatively rare opportunity to switch my domain and try out a new role that would have been unthinkable to me previously. Having spent more than 7 years in the technology services industry, I had seen how technology is emerging as a key differentiator and source of competitive advantage for businesses. Already, the use of Big Data and Analytics, Digital Marketing, and Cloud Computing was creating strong impact across industries. This is the main reason why I wanted to move away from implementing technology systems to advising on the strategic implementation of new technology to create a long term business impact. However, to do this, I needed a deeper understanding of business functions to which technology is ultimately applied, more knowledge on emerging techno-business paradigms, and stronger leadership skills. This is exactly where IPMX at IIML played a crucial role. At IPMX, the core courses focused on decision-making through Micro, and Macro Economics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Quant for Business helped me gain knowledge across business functions. Next, the electives such as Management Science in Practice, Business Analytics and Applied Econometrics equipped me with specific skills to succeed in a technology consulting- Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence- role. At IPMX, learning went well beyond class room. I can’t ignore the importance of the CIS – Course of Independent Study – in my work life. The topic suggested by the Prof was “Effects of Monetary policy on equity Market”, and it was thoroughly focused on Applied Econometrics & advanced analytics. The study not only helped me to get my hands dirty, but also equipped me with so many priceless skills in the domain of Advanced Analytics. More than anything else, I got some friends for life, and some really knowledgeable professors as mentors for Lifetime.

With a decade of professional work experience, I quickly realized that to make sense of business, I needed a Master’s degree and IIM’s were the natural choice. After much due diligence, I opted for IPMX, the full time one-year MBA program from IIM Lucknow. The International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) at IIM Lucknow is a uniquely designed management programme for mid-level managers in the industry.
