MGNF

Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) is a flagship programme launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It includes 660+ Fellows in different districts. MGNF is a two-year certificate programme in Public Policy and Management with Nine IIMs- Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Jammu, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Ranchi, Udaipur, and Visakhapatnam as academic partners. IIM Lucknow is one of the Academic partners for the program having at present 109 fellows in four states including 33 in Assam, 11 in Mizoram, 54 in Uttar Pradesh, and 11 in Himachal Pradesh. The objective of the programme is to strengthen the district skill landscape of the country through an effective and collaborative engagement of Fellows. MGN Fellowship aims to create a cadre of individuals who can contribute to the strengthening of the district-led skill ecosystem. This will help in supporting the district administration to improve skill development, programme delivery as well as develop a cadre of committed and competent development leaders.

MGNF is a blended programme with on campus Academic Modules and District Immersion Modules. The academic module provides conceptual clarity on ideas relevant to skilling, management and development economics among other things through intensive classroom teachings, exam format assessments, and discussions.

The fellows are expected to apply such learnings during the District Immersion Module (DI) wherein they are to work with district administration on a number of activities in line with KPIs as shared by MSDE including assisting DSCs in developing DSDPs, formulating new projects, convergence with departments, industry engagement, entrepreneurship development, and others. By the end of the programme, the District Skill Committees must function as an effective organization being able to plan, implement and monitor skill development initiatives.
