Give me a day at IIML and I will give you back 48 hours. When I look back now, the only things that come to my mind distinctly are my arrival in Lucknow for the first time and the moments of leaving the campus for term break. Rest all is a gigantic capsule of quizzes, assignments, end-terms, parties, B-school events etc. It took no time for the jungle of woods and concrete - IIML to change everything. The sleeping hours has changed, the language has changed, the tolerance for failures has changed, the amount of adrenaline flow during parties has changed ... in a nutshell the attitude has changed. The range of shades and textures covered by the stay at this place has a wide horizon. The extremes of weather, marks, hunger, sleep, responsibilities, pressure, parties entail a difference in attitude. Moreover, the yellow pages of business newspapers no more jeopardize my penchant for reading newspapers. I have started smiling at the jargons of business magazines instead of frowning at them. But I still wonder about the source of high energy levels in the people around me. More noteworthy fact is that their energy spark is contagious in nature. The life here deprives you of even the remotest chance of respite but at the end you feel relieved by having contact details of corporate biggies- some present and some prospective ones.
Ahaskar Pandey Class of 2009
I was an ordinary student from a Mumbai University without any work experience or any tag of IIT or NIT behind me. After coming to IIM Lucknow, my greatest concern was whether I would be able to survive the rat race in this premier institute. The only help that I looked towards at the start was the seniors because prior to coming here, they were the only people I had interacted with. Also after coming here, I learnt about the Culture at IIM Lucknow, which consists of Hostel, parties, Academics and the peer pressure, which I think would be a characteristic of every IIM, but what I can relate to is the life at "Hell". Yes, this was the name I heard from almost every senior "Welcome to Hell". We had an induction module which lasted 3 really long days. I would not like to spill it out and spoil the fun because it is something one can experience only after coming to Hell. What follows next is the interaction with the professors, learning it the IIM way and at the same time, being a member of the 22-odd active committees that try to teach you all the stuff the academic curriculum is not yet structured for. Then follow the placements, festivals, celebrations and most of all - parties for every small occasion that helps you become more of a member of the family.
I would like to end this small write-up ( because I cannot explain IIM Lucknow in a write-up) with a hope to see you at Hell and experience the Heaven within.
