The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML) was set up by the Government of India in 1984 as an autonomous body. IIM Lucknow’s mission is to be a global, socially conscious and integrated school of management, contributing towards management development in India and abroad.
IIM Lucknow is an integrated institute delivering a wide range of long term post graduate educational programs in Management such as the Post Graduate Program in Management, (PGPM), the Post graduate program in Agri Business, and the One year Residential International Program in Management for Executives (IPMX) and the Three Year Part Time Post Graduate Program in Management also known as the WMP or Working Manager’s Program. It also runs the doctoral program viz., the Fellow Program in Management (FPM). It also offers intermediate to short term training and management development programs (MDP). It is also a leading center for research, and consulting services involving policy and corporate strategies.
IIM L'S NOIDA Campus
The NOIDA Campus of IIML is evolving as a leading center in the area of executive education, research, industry interaction and training. Its vision has evolved from the IIML mission, with a focus on mid-career and executive level management education, training, research and dissemination.
The Indian economy at this stage of rapid and all enveloping change and globalization, has a great need for managerial talent that will help drive the change, and there is an urgent need for executives at the middle and senior levels to contribute to this. The focus of Noida Campus of IIML is on the needs of this particular group of management talent.
The WMP is the first of the programs launched to leverage IIML's resources for catalyzing change through instance, intensive mid-career long term educational programs. It has also launched the International Program in Management for Executives (the IPMX), with the third batch commencing April 2010. It has also recently launched the International Program in Financial Management, (the IPFX) with the first batch to commence in 2010.
Campus
The NOIDA Campus of IIML is housed in a 20-acre site at Sector 62 in NOIDA. The classes of the WMP are being held at the modern, state of the art Academic Block, which houses the lecture halls and program office. The Campus also provides students of the residential IPMX program appropriate hostel accommodation on campus. The other Blocks on the Campus comprise a well-equipped library, a modern computer centre, mess facilities, an executive hostel for management development program participants, and sports facilities such as a gymnasium, tennis and basketball courts, table tennis, badminton etc. The cafeteria is a popular recourse for students including the WMP participants, who want a bite in between or ahead of classes on Campus, after a full day at work. The verdant green Campus provides the perfect setting for the student community to get together, for group studies, sharing resources and learning and for events which bring the various program participants together in cultural and other spheres of activity.
The Working Managers' Program
As part of the mission of NOIDA Campus, IIML had launched a unique program meant for working executives, the Three Year (Part-Time) Post-Graduate Program in Management for Working Executives , also popularly known as the Working Managers’ Program (WMP ) with the first batch of the program having commenced in July 2005. The sixth batch would commence 1st July, 2010.
 
Objectives
The WMP is uniquely designed for working executives, entrepreneurs and professionals, who desire to enhance their managerial knowledge and skills in a formal setting, while continuing to work full time in their ongoing professions/businesses. The program is structured to meet the learning needs and methodology of those who continue to work, and at the same time are looking for formal management education. The program is designed to maintain the high standards expected from regular post graduate programs in management at IIM L., and rigorous which is the hallmark of the Institute.
It aims at developing strong conceptual fundamentals and skills required to manage businesses of the future with over thirty six credits worth of courses over the duration of three years. The WMP aims to help inculcate leadership and teamwork amongst participants, and foster the development of change agents to take leadership roles in the global arena.
The specific objectives of the program are to enable the executives to:
bullet Comprehend the meaning of socio-economic, technological and ecological environment of modern societies and their characteristic values;
bullet Acquire the prevailing state-of-art knowledge and skills in the functional areas of management;
bullet Develop analytical and innovative foresight to gauge change holistically, and to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of business systems;
bullet Value societal well being and the responsibility of corporate citizens.
Diploma
On successful completion of the Program students would be awarded the following:

Format and Structure
The WMP is run over nine terms, spread over three years. Each academic year has three terms and the academic year traditionally starts from the first Thursday of July each year. In each term a student is required to complete four course credits. This leads to a total of thirty six course credits, spread equally over each term. Each term is 14 weeks in duration, inclusive of ten to twelve weeks of classes, two weeks of examinations (the seventh and fourteenth weeks).
Time to Complete the Programme
The normal time to complete the requirements for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management for Working Executives is three years. However, students who fail to meet the prescribed minimum attendance or academic standards due to extenuating circumstances may be allowed two more contiguous years.
The program is currently under review, and students in the 2010-13 batch onwards, may benefit from greater schedule flexibility in the program. There is a possibility that those who may so desire, may complete the entire program in around two and a half years.
Class Schedule
Thursdays and Fridays: 6.15 pm - 9.30 pm; Saturdays: 2.30 pm - 9.30 pm.
System of Evaluation
A 10-point letter grade scale from A+ (10 points) to F (0 point) is finally used in each course to measure academic performance. At the end of each Term a Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) to reflect the Term performance and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) as a composite index to reflect the cumulative performance of a student up to that Term are calculated. There are three Terms in each academic year. At the end of each academic year a student's performance must be above the minimum required GPA for her/him to move to the next term or year.

Elective Course Offerings
Electives are offered from all of the functional areas such as Marketing, Finance and Accounts, Strategy, Operations, Information Management, Human Resources, etc. Students have to obtain at least fifteen course credits from elective courses. Four electives from a given area are required to specialize in that area, in addition to the general management focus of the overall program. In keeping with that focus, though the first two graduating batches have shown an average subscription of around four courses in strategy, finance or marketing, they have also opted for courses in HR and operation, IT and other general management such as carbor markets, to fulfill their own unique needs and blend of management skills.
Eligibility
bullet Applicant must have completed a Bachelor Degree programme or equivalent in any discipline recognized by a) All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), b) UGC or Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
bullet In Graduation the applicant must have obtained minimum 50% aggregate marks (or CGPA of 5.50 on a 10-point scale); 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD categories.
bullet The applicant must also have minimum 3 years full time working experience (after Graduation) as managerial, entrepreneurial and/or professional work experience as on 1st July 2010.
bullet The applicant must be below 45 years of age as on 1st July 2010.
Fee and Expenses
The total term fees every year would be Rs. One lakh and eighty thousand (Rs. 1,80,000/- only). This would be payable in three equal installments of Rs. Sixty Thousand every term, across the nine terms.
In addition to this, there would be an Alumni Membership Fee of Rs. Five thousand, (Rs. 5000/-) paid as a onetime fee, during the first year, at the time of registration to the course. Further, candidates also need to deposit an additional amount of Rs. Fifteen thousand (Rs.15000/-) as a refundable security deposit, payable at the time of admission. This would be refunded after deduction of any dues/liabilities at the time of leaving the program. The Convocation fees of Rs. Five thousand would be payable at the beginning of the Ninth term, in addition to the requisite term fees.
The fees are subject to revision.
Placement
Since this programme is designed for the Working Managers, the Institute will not offer any placement facility to students.
General Profile of WMP Students
It has been observed that students across the batches have on average seven years work experience. The experience ranges from the minimum of three years as required by the program admission criterion, to over twenty years. The industries represented by the students is a rich mix of manufacturing, IT, services, etc., across multiple functional domains, and from private, public sector and government organizations, as well as professionals and entrepreneurs, across various levels of organizational responsibility including general management and senior/top management levels. They bring in the wide variety of perspectives that are strength of this executive post graduate program, and lead to an invigorating and challenging exchange of ideas.
