Allahabad lies 204 kms from Lucknow in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and the city of Allahabad is situated at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Allahabad is a site of great religious significance located at the confluence of the River Ganges and the River Yamuna. Known as Prayag since the Aryan times. Allahabad is counted among the holiest of cities in India. A holy fair called Kumbh marks the place. These are of three types. The one that takes place every year is called 'Minor Kumbh'.
