Advanced Management Programme for the Executives in Banks and Financial Institutions














  • The Indian Financial sector is undergoing a serious transition moving from a closed and protected system to one which is integrated into the global financial markets and therefore transparent. Post-Lehman Crisis, the world over, Banks are facing tremendous pressure to re-align their business models and bring in more accountability. The Indian Banking and Financial services segment are preparing for the next big leap. Growing competition among banks and financial intermediaries both national and international has heralded rapid and unforeseen changes in the financial services environment, where banks have to transform fast to adapt to the new realities. An important vehicle to facilitate this transformation is the empowerment of the middle management with the skill-sets necessary for handling modern banking challenges. Also, modern banking requires extensive use of data related to customers, and therefore Business Analytics applications in Banking is a huge area of interest. This Programme aims at equipping middle management officers with appropriate management skills imperative to succeed in the emerging competitive global marketplace.

    • Develop a global strategic mindset among the middle/senior management officers
    • Inculcate advanced management (including Data Analytics) skills for handling emerging areas of banking & finance
    • Develop marketing and multiple channel management attributes among middle/senior level Executives and equipping them with the latest tools and techniques in Bank Marketing.

    SPECIAL GOALS

    • Discuss framework of the national and international banking/finance industry and competitive analysis.
    • Quip bankers with risk management tools/skills.
    • Examine issues (using case analysis approach) relating to corporate governance, operational risks and other related concerns in the global banking arena.
    • Prepare and assist bankers to become effective Customer Relationship Managers to leverage every customer relationship.
    • Stimulate creative thinking with an aim to develop innovative financial Products/services.
    • Understanding the changing profile of Indian Banking System, major issues/challenges and the current level of preparedness to meet those challenges. Understanding the Balance Sheet of Banks etc. and try to understand the drivers of valuation.
    • Risk Management, Liquidity Risk, Asset Liability Management, Market Risk, Credit Risk and Operational Risk. Issues of Corporate Governance and Changes in Regulatory Landscape in light of BASEL III guidelines.
    • Marketing (Product development, positioning, etc.) Skills required for Banking and Financial Services, Customer Relationship Management and Innovation Management in a Service Industry, Using data analytics tools to develop value for both customers as well as shareholders.
  • The Programme will be conducted through an appropriate mix of case studies, presentations, and discussions on frameworks, and mutual sharing.

    • An officer in Public/ Private sector banks with around 5-7 years of work experience.
    • Executives from lower and middle management cadre in the financial sector and NBFCs with around 5-7 years of work experience.
  • Dr. Vikas Srivastava is Associate Professor in the Finance and Accounting area group at IIM Lucknow. Dr. Srivastava is an MBA, Ph. D. and was a Visiting Doctoral Fellow at the Helsinki School of Economics under a scholarship by the European Union. Before joining IIM Lucknow, he has worked with National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), Pune and IIM Ranchi. Dr. Srivastava offers training, research and consultancy support primarily in the areas of Large and Mid-Corporate Credit, Project and Infrastructure Finance and Public Private Partnerships. He has conducted more than 70 specialized training programmes for senior and middle management of Banks and Financial Institutions based in India, South Asia, Central Europe and Africa, besides other leading organizations like ONGC, EIL, and HUDCO, etc.
    He was also an Advisor to Axis Bank Corporate Banking and Project Finance Group.

    In 2012 he was invited by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to deliver a Public Lecture on “Public Private Partnerships in South Asia.” In 2010, he offered capacity building support on Public Private Partnership and Project Finance to IPFF Cell, Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank of Bangladesh) and officers of other banks and Financial Institutions of Bangladesh at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank
    Management, Dhaka.
    He is also a visiting faculty to the Reserve Bank of India College of Agricultural Banking, Pune, and BOB Apex Training College, Ahmedabad. In 2008, he was a member of the team that completed an NIBM – IFC Washington – ADB Manila sponsored research project on Sustainable Project Finance.
    He has authored eight research papers and several case studies on Project Finance. He has also published a monograph and an international book on Financing Infrastructure projects by Indian banks. Prof. Vikas Srivastava can be reached at vikas.srivastava@iiml.ac.in.

    Prof. Prakash Singh is a Professor in the Finance & Accounting area at IIM Lucknow. He holds a Ph. D in “Reforms in Indian Banking” from BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan, besides a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from HBTI, Kanpur and an MBA in Finance from Lucknow University. He is teaching courses in Commercial Bank Management, Risk Management, and Financial Institutions, Financial Reporting and Valuation for Post Graduate students at IIM Lucknow. Prof. Singh’s current areas of interests include Financial Inclusion, Microfinance, BASEL III, Corporate Governance, Credit Risk Modeling, etc. He can be reached at p_singh@iiml.ac.in.

  • Residential: The programme fee for the residential participant is @ Rs 45,000/- plus GST @ 18% or any other tax as per the Govt. of India guidelines. The fee includes the cost of boarding and lodging, tuition, course material, use of the Institute Library, Computer Center, and other infrastructural facilities, etc.

    Non-residential:The programme fee for the non-residential participant is @ Rs 41,500/- plus GST @ 18% or any other tax as per the Govt. of India guidelines. The fee includes the cost of food during the programme, tuition, course material, use of the Institute Library, Computer Center, etc.

    EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT Nominations received along with the programme fee up to 30 days before the programme date will be entitled to an early bird discount of 10%.

    GROUP DISCOUNT A group discount of 10% on programme fee is admissible provided an organization nominates, and attends a minimum 5 or more of its executives for the programme. Organizations sponsoring minimum 5 or more executives for the programme may avail both the discounts subject to a maximum discount of 20% provided the nominations along with the fee is received at our end 30 days before the programme date.
